Kim Furry, Learning Designer

Hi, I'm Kim Furry—a dedicated educator turned learning designer, with a diverse academic background in political science, history, international studies, and secondary education. My journey took a transformative turn during the pandemic when I stepped away from work in the telecommunications field and into the classroom. That first year, I was honored to be nominated by my principal as our district’s Keystone Technology Innovator in my very first year of teaching. I also served as a Penn State Extension program assistant for several years previous to my public school teaching for Tioga County in the Food, Families, and Health group, which further deepened my commitment to creating community-focused, tech-integrated learning experiences.

Grounded in my master’s work in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State World Campus, I approach every project through a design thinking lens—empathizing with learners, defining challenges, ideating creative solutions, prototyping innovative educational experiences, and iterating to satisfaction. Whether working in local school districts or community programs, I've consistently delivered engaging, transformative learning that adapts to today’s dynamic needs. I'm excited to collaborate and turn your instructional design challenges into inspiring, learner-centric journeys.

The goal of a designer is to listen, observe, understand, sympathize, empathize, synthesize, and glean insights that enable him or her to ‘make the invisible visible.
